Frequently Asked Questions

What level of undress will be required of me?

This depends greatly on the room or  area provided by the company and the length of the massage.  In sessions of 15 minutes or less, clothing is left on.  If the massages are done in an area that is not  private,  clothing will also remain on.  For longer massages and private rooms, some people prefer to undress completely while others are more comfortable leaving undergarments on.   You will be covered by a sheet and blanket for the duration of the massage and only the back and limbs will ever be exposed.  Never hesitate to tell your therapist what you prefer.

Can I receive Massage Therapy while I am pregnant?

Yes, as long as you are past the first trimester Massage Therapy is perfectly safe for expectant mothers and is often suggested by OB-GYN’s. Your Therapist will design a light or moderate pressure massage to relieve stress and tension while promoting a bonding experience between mother and child.

How long after surgery should I wait to get a massage?

It varies based on the type of surgery, but two weeks is the general rule. Massage is a wonderful complimentary treatment to Physical Therapy as well as Rehabilitation.

Why is it important to drink plenty of water after receiving a massage?

The manual manipulation of soft tissue or Massage Therapy facilitates the release of toxins being stored in the muscle cells. Flushing your system with water post-massage helps to move these toxins out of the body and prevent headaches or soreness. It is also recommended to eat light after a massage sticking to lean proteins such as chicken or fish and raw green vegetables.

How often should I get massages?

It depends on the physical condition of each client. Your Therapist will design and explain a treatment plan appropriate for you, but most people achieve optimal results with weekly sessions.
